 The Rev.'s Mom

Leona N. was ritualized last evening(6-29-15)

I was there, made some comments about
this great family.

The Rev was a good and loyal son
including throughout his parent's dwindling, declining health.
He was their sole child. And soul one too.  Eugene the father passed some years ago.
A tank commander inWW II, he had fingers of his right hand shot off.

When he held up his hand to wave, etc. the remaining fingers
made the sign language "I love you."

I spoke of Leroy's stalwart and long long nearly daily on site vigil
honoring his mother and father sacrificing much of his own single life,
lovingly housing them in his home as long as he could.
[Exodus 20. 1-21]

When I mentioned that in my remarks at Randle Dable
several people in attendance came out with a spontaneous
AMEN.

RIP
Nastrowie!

Just the black keys

The Black Keys On The Piano........

A few years ago, at Carnegie Hall, the charismatic gospel singer, Wintley Phipps, delivered a powerful rendition of Amazing Grace.  Phipps said, "A lot of people don't realize that just about all Negro spirituals are written on the black notes of the piano. Slaves were not permitted to use the white keys. Probably the most   famous of this slave scale of notes was written by John Newton, the former captain of a slave ship, and whom many believe first heard this melody aboard one of his voyages; it sounds like a West African sorrow chant."

A powerful singer, after sharing the noteworthy history of the song, Mr. Phipps then delivered a stirring performance that brought that audience to its feet.
