Hope for the world; Pick a card; Pak choi; Dive bombing lesson; Downtown reflections

Today's Gazetteer

is even more that than ever!
A Gazette.  Just gaze!
Number one photo just came in via Email
from grandmother Cindy Helt.

When I study this charming shot with Sarah,
baby Emerson's mom making the SMILE face
(for obviously that is what she's doing!)

I have to think:
THIS IS THE HOPE FOR THE WORLD

fractured and woe-bestricken as it may be...
happiness and wholeness will prevail!

 makes my day!

Oh yeah
father of baby
is Aaron Helt
my godson

CINDY'S PAK CHOI

Last night we had a vegetarian supper
partly consisting of Cindy Helt's Pak Choi
from her garden, done up in a certain way
- Cindy's way -
in the Odd Fellows galley kitchen
by Dee.

THIS MAY HAVE BEEN A TRAINING FILM
OR ONE LIKE IT
WATCHED BY LAST RACCOON'S LT. LAZ:

Note:  It's long, just as Lt. Laz's military training was....

A Shutter Read On Downtown
in the thick of things:

From our high perch, like this gargoyle atop our mantel clock,
and this one on the National flying buttressed Cathedral in Georgetown

WE KEEP OUR CIRCUMBSCRIBED WATCH OVER THE CITY

...

Work continues furiously in the readying of the new Clarke
manifestation for occupancy right across from
Raccoon Headquarters

Ads have been running for wait staff hires
and today 7-9 we see power washers
at work on the exterior.

Reflected in the windows of the NICE ASH cigar bar emporium
stands the spiffing-up Former Clarke Hotel, soon to be an Irish re-animation.

Will the guests enjoy this play-on-words neon sign?
Some will, including, it has been reported, the new owner of the Clarke
who is allegedly a cigar man.

A dawn street-cleaning patrol on Summer Fridays
ahead of that evening's Friday Night Live bash
when hordes are permitted to street-walk.
Roads are controversially closed and barricaded.

On 7-8-14 Berg Management workers
operated their lift at South St and Clinton St
hoisting building materials to the roof.
More renovations (rooftop?) coming.

Dave's waitress waits
for Dave's Restaurant to open
and let her in.
4:50 AM 7-3-14

A charming downtown courtyard doorway.
Where is it?

A good day for window reflections...

Currently a drive is on, seemingly - or is it strictly random? - to create a resale shop district
on Grand Ave twixt South St and the Five Points.
We'll watch to see if any permanent exterior signage occurs.

Sidewalk dining is accomodated, expanded as a result of
the street widening improvement
at the former Scrima's Corners, Main St and Clinton.
New Mayor Reilly recently opened up the street work.
Ceremoniously.
