RE gifts traversing from afar:

David James, our friend from college in the late 50s, sent us a Christmas gift of a white turquoise cabochon from the extinct White Buffalo mine in Nevada. David and his wife Bobbi live in Tucson. We have been the recipients of other turquoise pieces and various gifts from David, most generously.

David, more commonly known here by his 50s nickname, "The Babes", and "FFL" (Friend For Life!) calls this a raccoon stone. He is able to look at things and see something significant represented, in the way that we at the SRN saw the face in the bag of plastic peanuts the other day.
