Sewer Raccoons get a hosing and a vacuuming

City crews maintain raccoon quarters
As usual, the public works department of Waukesha is looking out for the well-being of the city's subterranean-dwelling raccoons. It's spring cleaning time for the little burglars. This afternoon the maintenance workers pulled up in their big trucks outside one of the major raccoon arteries at Colton and Arcadian to swirl down and suck away the gutter refuse clogging the storm grate threshhold tunnel.
The grates were lifted up and set aside so the giant vacuum pipes could access the old soda cans, tennis balls, miscellany and road dirt that collects in the sewer and impedes the smooth and cunning coming and going of the raccoons. Two were sitting like little sidewalk superintendants, watching the kindness of the city of Waukesha at work.
Hail to the Waukesha, making housing hospitable for its lowliest citizens.

this one yielded a COL (chuckle out loud - my humble attempt to add to the vernacular of these times). It is gratifying somehow to see our old abode featured in the background of the photos.
