Rats and snakes next to the day-care center:

At this point, Fort Myers Fla citizens still call their city department of one to mow and board up neighborhood properties. They want their property values to hold (good luck) but are not yet willing to go out there and join in the work, evidently. One man slaves away.....

Economic exigencies obtain.

The SRN ed. - back in the day - visited a friend's grandmother's condo in Fort Myers. The complex, like so many others in Florida, was built on "reclaimed" swamp land. Affluent retiree residents wore snake skins for hatbands, and thought little of alligators crawling on their manicured lawns.

But this is different circumstance.
