full of grace
and illustrations;
found this one of a mechanism
called a 'gimbals' that might explain
why some always
land on their feet.

shows the wear of time.
It is tattered
but the pages
are all there,
untorn.
Yes, its leather cover
is glued
but unrued;
water-stain-
tattooed.
Only the cover is scarred,
deeply blemished,
but holding forth
nonetheless.
Who cares if the soldiers
are wearing puttees?
Some need old dictionaries.
