House by moonlight; Man with lobster; Rope sandals; Toe nail mention

A visit 9-10-11 to the Helt new residence on the banks of the Oconomowoc near Hubertus saw us standing at the car to depart through moonlight. A photo opp. The moon was rising nearly above their front door. The camera was handy.

Click....long pause while open shutter read the lighting.........audible close of shutter (all automatic via the from-Les-Dix Nikon digital), and an interesting result, shown above. Almost fit for a data sheet, should they ever sell.

A reading of yesterday's Facebook provided a noteworthy image
from Jim Gorman's friend Richard L Floyd to Jim. It was available on Floyd's FB page through a comment Mr. Floyd made to mutual friend Jim about an article by Bill Keller in the Times Sunday Book Review on Christopher Hitchen's new book, 'ARGUABLY'.

The photo of the fiendish lobster-boiler, one presumes, is composed with the untied claw of the cooker off to the upper right. He stands as though a fencer delivering a coup de gras? The man's eyes stare as wildly as do the lobster's. A kitchen enactment to which we were privy thanks to the infinite magic of M. Zuckerwhatshisname.

Then too.....

this picture of precocious 5th grader William Redding taken by us in Congo chawtch sans flash as Wm sat next to us in his apparently new rope sandals.

WHAT WOULD JESUS WEAR?

]AURORA BOREALIS; TOENAIL'N
My podiatrist wife took a hedge-trimmer
To my large right toenail yesterday;
In groan'n weariness I'd grown tired
Of the pink nail polish I'd once
Had her
Dab on, layer on layer
To try to cover a blackish smirch
The nail took on after something heavy
Fell on it
It did not fully work
So now she took some nail polish solvent
And wiped in her cleanly way
The red away;
And the vestigial claw end
Came separated after muscle
Was applied;
She handed me the sawn piece
And I noted as you now can too
That the colors subtle
With the pinkish fringe
resembled the northern lights
In a dark sky;
Some of the blackened blood
Crust
finally reached the end
Of the nail and became
At last trimmable
Something to look forward to In a
Harsh world.
