A DAY THAT WILL LIVE IN INFAMY

DECEMBER 7, 1941

.......................

THE STEEPLE AT THE CONGREGATIONAL UCC
HAS BEEN IN THE NEWS LATELY

Attention has been drawn to the re-roofing of the old slate-roofed Congregational Church at 100 E Broadway, Waukesha.

The raccoon editor has spent many happy moments in that steeple for purposes of regularly oiling the massive bell and just hanging out with the pigeons.

A few years ago on an excursion up the dusty steeple I gathered a large bag of pigeon droppings and enclosed a small zip-lock bag of them as additions to my fellow-members' Christmas cards.

These little mementos have been treasured by some of the recipients.

The verse attached to the bag, shown pictorially above, read as follows:

When that bell is tolled up yonder
Let our good deeds us acquit
We fall but keep on climbing
And we try to give a ----!

Merry Christmas
