in a former Odd Fellows meeting hall on the third floor of the Putney building.
The emblem of the fraternal order is visible on the roof at the Grand Avenue side.
It is a visual and audial treat to reside here. 1882 limestone exterior walls take you to the elevator at the end of a long, wide, big-windowed hall, illumined at the end with natural light via a skylight. We have three of those in our place, a 1000 sq. ft loft with 18 ft. high windows, overlooking the Five Points. Mourning Doves sometimes call us through a window in the living room........

When you come down the 3rd floor corridor to our apartment (311), the old wood planks under the carpet creak nicely. Anonymity prevails; no names appear on any doors, and the mail boxes and doorbells in the front entry are void of any ID also. I like that just fine.
TODAY
I brewed a pot of coffee in the Mahoney antique percolator, given to us on the advent of our 25th anniversary, now three years past.
