WEATHER:
Sunday 5-14-11
This morning on arising at 6, it was 50 degrees and breezy. The paper square on the bottom of the Sisters window bell was causing a steady tinkle, sounding like a spoon stirring coffee somewhere in the distance.
The bell has traveled with us in our chronological homes. It came as a gift from Dee's sister, Donna, at the right. She with the curly hair, always the envy of Dee.
Dee and Donna have stayed in weekly touch on the telephone, often an hour at a time or more, to catch up on life and the news from Pleasant Valley Maryland and Waukesha. (See http://raccoonnews.blogspot.com/2008/10/poppys-barn.html or search SRN for Means Rest.)
Theirs is a strong connection, born of a loving time growing up together on the farm, arm-in-arm, wearing home-made matching dresses, under the care and tutelage of gentle giant father John Means, and their magnificent homemaker mother, Jeannie Means.
It is no wonder that the family bonds throughout that family prevail to this day, and they are enviable. The quiet bell reminds me of it.
