The raccoon's toes are flexible
and he is very good at grabbing, pulling things apart and holding
things. The raccoon is a very good climber and can go down a tree
backwards or face first! The name 'raccoon' comes from the
Algonquin word 'arakun' which means "one who scratches with his
hands". His front hands are very human-like.
The raccoon obtains his food however he can get it; sometimes, especially
in these times, by begging.
