A CONTRAST STUDY

THE RAIN........

CAME IN ON LITTLE CHICK AND CAT FEET

AND PRESIDED OVER OUR FIRST HIGH SCHOOL DANCE

Waukesha WI 6-10-08 The Fox River is expected to crest sometime today, Lord willing.

When it rains, it rains on everyone, and everything. The press tried to cover the news evenly, but our reading seemed to find a surfeit of news on the expensive destruction of exotic Lake Delton, a man-made lake a couple hundred yards from the Wisconsin River in The Dells vacation land. The water pressure from all the rain caused Lake Delton to find a way to the Wisconsin and relieve itself. It flat-out drained.

That caused costly houses (one at least at half a mil) to slide down embankments into the water, floating away, destroying them. WI Governor Doyle was on the scene pledging government help for the huge losses. The Tommy Bartlett water show, the Wis. Dells amphibian DUCKS, upscale tourist lodges, the many piers and boat slips for fancy boats and Jet Skis - all washed away!

In the twinkling of a gurgle, a rivulet turned into a torrent.

But what of the less wealthy folks down on Union Street in Waukesha? There were lots of flooded basements and structural damages to their ruder huts. They were pictured, sodden, carrying their meager salvageable belongings to safety. Being poorer means nothing much to lose, the sewer raccoon news ruminates.

A Deltonite cried:

"I lost Everything!" to the governor. "Everything I had was in that ($500,000) home!"

"It was my dream home!"

Nature can be a great leveling force, and if you live, an offerer of some time for thoughtful re-appraisals.

This?

Or this?

It kind of makes you think..........
