presents raccoon district's original burglar occupants
with silver anniversary 1940's chrome electric coffee maker
Midriff Muse (http://midriffmuse.com/) creator and former across-the-street neighbor, Terry Mahoney, at the bi-monthly
showing of the HBO Deadwood series in the Mahoney residence, bestowed an EBay-purchased coffee maker upon the Dixes in recognition of their 25th wedding anniversary.
The gift took the Dixes by complete surprise. They had often partaken of delicious coffee at the Mahoney's, and always marveled at the collection of chromium coffee-makers from which we received our exquisite libations, but never thought we would own one. Our new old maker is like others that Terry has collected in her (some would say 'odd') gatherer's penchant, shaped like a diver's bell, her favorite shape, (see her book) but this one was purchased especially for us!
It is nearly incumbent upon us to cast the news of Terry's kindness as far and wide as the SRN reaches, which is of course pretty F & W.
Terry and her husband Hawk lived directly beside the now famed storm grate from which our sponsoring critters come and go. The Mahoneys made us aware of the raccoons nesting in their late, tall, Waukesha-historic, cable-braced, Herkimer's roof-endangering Mulberry tree, and like us, considered themselves blessed by the raccoon entourage and neighborhood cohabitation.
We still do.
