Give me an old-fashioned 1930's wink anytime

not a cutesie wink

Gimme that "old time religion" wink

the kind that our old hero, Popeye, was given to flash on the bucket-of-blood movie screen at The Avon. (See Waukesha historian, John Schoenknecht)
Debuting in The Thimble Theater comic strip in 1929, Popeye was said to have but one eye, but we knew that anyone who had the massive forearms Popeye did - with anchor tattoos - had to have something up his rolled-up sleeves. He was and is immortally a true spinach lover, and a mighty winker. A serious winker! These were the days when a wink meant something, not just a flirty cosmetic affectation.

At the SRN hqtrs, WE still "eats R spinach!"

Spinach is an excellent source of vitamin K, vitamin A, manganese, folate, magnesium, iron, vitamin C, vitamin B2, calcium, potassium, and vitamin B6. It is a very good source of dietary fiber, copper, protein, phosphorous, zinc and vitamin E. In addition, it is a good source of omega-3 fatty acids, niacin and selenium.
