in Waukesha

With our current snow accumulation in Waukesha blocking the storm grates in the District, the raccoons are finding it necessary to exit the sewers by pushing up some man-hole covers. They, of course, regard them as raccoon-hole covers. These ajar covers can be a hazard. Fortunately for the coons, our local department of public works, honest confirmers of the true presence of Waukesha sewer raccoons, instead of pushing the “offending” covers back into their street settings, allow them to remain for the raccoons coming and going. At least for a while. The city workers erect a barricade as illustrated to warn passing traffic of this raccoon amenity.
